Summary: As Lord Voldemort's power swells, threatening to crush the souls of all who oppose him, two bitter enemies seek solace from a most unexpected source.
Status: Possibly finished (one can never be sure); it's at a good end point in any case. There are more than fourteen parts to the story right now, and several of these "parts" are multi-chaptered.
Comment: Quite an interesting saga, especially when you consider that this started out as a one-shot PWP. I think the author provides an especially unique view of Severus; she deserves love simply for how well she's thought out and presented his past. Despite how harsh this story is at times, I find it more bittersweet and tender than anything else. Also, she really kept me guessing throughout the entire fic, I wasn't sure what was going to happen.

Comments: Most definitely an AU, even if it isn't specifically stated as such by the author. You probably ought to know that the fic deals with were leopards. Many people dislike this fic, for various reasons, many of which are actually understandable. In fact, I wasn't going to list this fic, but it's made it for just one reason: I keep on coming back and rereading it. For all of its faults, I still find it to be very entertaining. If you have a fairly open mind and are looking for a way to while away the time, give this fic a shot.

Comments: Definitely one of the best AU's I've ever come across. Harry is absolutely adorable at eight years old, and the differences from the books are handled in such a way that I can't help but love them too.

Due to the fact that I have more recs for the Harry Potter fandom than any other, this series has been given its own rec page. As of 11.20.07, my recs span 14 "fandoms", containing 74 fics total, and 26 of those fics are from the Harry Potter fandom alone. To give you an idea of the difference between this and my other fandom recs, the fandom that holds the second-greatest number of recs is One Piece, with 8 fics.
I think it's prudent to state that I don't favor the Harry Potter series or its fandom more than any other, but the difference in recs is there for a reason. The first is that HP is the first fandom that really sucked me in, and it took me quite a long time to start becoming bored with it. The second is that HP is one of the more popular and persistently active fandoms on the internet, and the third is that I've had an easier time finding diverse work of quality in the HP fandom than in any other.

Summary: Stealing Harry grabs canon by the throat and disembowls it. If Lucius Malfoy got to Peter Pettigrew before Sirius could, Sirius would be a bookshop owner, Remus would have a steady job, and one day, when Harry Potter was eight-and-a-half years old, they might kidnap him from the Dursleys... (Sirius/Remus in later chapters).

Comments: Definitely one of the best AU's I've ever come across. Harry is absolutely adorable at eight years old, and the differences from the books are handled in such a way that I can't help but love them too.

Due to the fact that I have more recs for the Harry Potter fandom than any other, this series has been given its own rec page. As of 11.20.07, my recs span 14 "fandoms", containing 74 fics total, and 26 of those fics are from the Harry Potter fandom alone. To give you an idea of the difference between this and my other fandom recs, the fandom that holds the second-greatest number of recs is One Piece, with 8 fics.
I think it's prudent to state that I don't favor the Harry Potter series or its fandom more than any other, but the difference in recs is there for a reason. The first is that HP is the first fandom that really sucked me in, and it took me quite a long time to start becoming bored with it. The second is that HP is one of the more popular and persistently active fandoms on the internet, and the third is that I've had an easier time finding diverse work of quality in the HP fandom than in any other.
